I watched them back-to-back on DVD yesterday. Lost is very involving -- a great, big Twilight Zoneesque shaggy dog story. But watching it after The Wire is like flipping through a particularly good issue of Superman after reading King Lear.

Anybody catch it? It was pretty funny, mostly. If you like the kind of sophisticated crudeness that makes friends groan, parents scream, and grandparents go into cardiac arrest.

I haven't listened yet, but there's a few Ricky Gervais podcasts available for free on The Guardian. If you heard any of the original free broadcasts like a year ago, this is big news, because, as we used to say in the schoolyard...them shits was funny.
It was a good career while it lasted. Though if Trent Lott can come back, maybe you can too.
Good stuff, including "she's a piece of shit" and "she's unbelievably dumb."
CBS News anchor Katie Couric takes a stand where other mainstream media types bury their heads in the sand. If she's fired, she'll at least know she fought the good fight.
